Annette Pedersen - Foredragsholder

Poster session presenting several aspects of the use of clickers in courses with 20-130 participants from both the physics and linguistics departments. Discussing the acceptance of clicker use among students at all stages of their bachelor program, challenges presented by less-than-positive faculty members, as well as measured learning outcomes. Also comparing and contrasting the various pedagogical approaches used by individual instructors both within a given field and between the two rather different fields of study.
In most implementations, multiple choice questions are used and typically have a correct answer together with some number of so-called “attractive distractors”; these questions are designed to lead students away from known alternative conceptions of reality. It is not clear that this is the best strategy in all fields and we will discuss other types of questions which could lead to more open discussion among participating students.
